How the Drain Tube Management Device works
The Drain Tube Management Device is flexible and formable, safe, and comfortable. It allows for individualization of placement of the extraction bulbs and tubes while allowing for mobility. It cleans easily and will not absorb water or soap in the shower. Easy to form to the body for all tube positions, the Drain Tube Management Device will allow for independence during most activities of daily living.
Simply hang like a scarf,
Hook up,
Hook on.
*Straighten the ends and hang to dry after showering

About Silver Lining Technology
As an occupational therapist for over 20 years, I have worked with thousands of patients to rebuild their independence after injury or illness. I invented the Drain Tube Management Device because I understand the necessity of maintaining the integrity of the post-surgical drain tube system during recovery. Equally important is assuring the patient can maintain modesty and independence during the healing process.
Proper support of the tubes is crucial to avoiding disconnected extraction bulbs, potentially causing the loss of negative pressure and/or causing strain on the site of the tube insertion. Both can leave the patient at risk of infection and hematomas.
The Drain Tube Management Device is simple, but dynamic in assuring a continued proper positioning of tubes and bulbs during routine self-care. The device can be used during all activities of daily living and was specifically designed to be used during showering.

My Story
Approximately 276,000 women in the United States were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer last year. I was one of them and treatment included a bilateral mastectomy with concurrent reconstruction. After I was discharged from the hospital, it was challenging to safely manage four extraction tubes/bulbs, even though I knew that proper support of the drain tube system was crucial to recovery. For me, showering was the biggest challenge.
People offered their suggestions of using an old belt, a strip of gauze or even an apron. Their suggestions made me realize that a gap in patient care existed. As I tried every suggested solution, all of which created more issues, I knew there had to be a better way.
Through that experience, I was compelled to create something that would be easy to use, hygienic and safe. The Drain Tube Management Device was created not only to meet the needs of women and men who are recovering from breast cancer surgeries but for all patients that are sent home with a drain tube system in place.
